Apple intends to abandon iTunes
The American company Apple is ready to abandon iTunes completely, according to Bloomberg.
The media player will be replaced by three separate apps: Music, TV, and Podcasts. According to the Agency, the head of the company Tim Cook will announce the changes on June 3 at the conference of developers WWDC 2019. It is expected that the update will happen with the release of a new operating system for Mac — macOS 10.15.
In addition, the company plans to provide updates for a number of other applications. It is also planned to combine Find my iPhone and Find My Friends in one application.
The fact that Apple intends to close iTunes became known in 2017. It was noted that the decision was due to the growing popularity of Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming services amid falling sales of music in the Apple store.
iTunes media player was developed by Apple in 2001. It is compatible with all existing iPod, iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV models.
