Global Smartphone Installed Base Will Reach 4 Billion Mark by 2020

As always, Android will maintain the primacy followed by iOS, but according to Strategy Analytics, Google’s operating system could be slowed down. in fact, the analysis company claims that Huawei will launch its own OS, Hongmeng, between the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020.
Hongmeng OS will arrive first in China to evaluate its performance and if the US ban continues, then it will expand to the rest of the world. In any case, regardless of the spread, it is clear that the launch of a Huawei proprietary operating system will erode Android’s share.
The recent situation between Huawei and the US encouraged Huawei to double up the development of its own operating system. The Chinese manufacturer is seriously working on its HongMeng OS and invites have been sent to developers to join in.
As of now, the smartphone market basically has two systems, Android and iOS. However, the emergence of HongMeng OS will weaken Android’s market share, at least in China. As for iOS, its sales volume is not good this year while it’s market share is also declining. Strategy Analytics believes that HongMeng may also have an impact on iOS. Huawei has grown into the largest smartphone manufacturer in China. Thus, if its system rolls out, Android OS will bear the brunt.
