Over 20 thousand e-signature certificates were issued in Azerbaijan in the first half of this year
20 376 e-signature certificates were issued in the first half of the current year by the Data Processing Center of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies. 13 484 of them were issued to government agencies, 4 458 – to legal entities and individuals, 2 402 – to citizens, 32 – to non-residents.
The number of e-signature certificates issued in the past month was 2 850. Thus, in June 2019, 1 742 certificates were issued to government agencies, 822 – to legal entities and individuals, 286 – to citizens.
A total of 187 314 e-signature certificates were issued by the National Certification Services Center during the period starting from the launch of electronic signature certificates in the country until July 1, 2019. 104 802 of them were issued to government agencies, 46 034 – to legal entities and individuals (entrepreneurs), 36 478 – to citizens.
An increase in the number of electronic signature users has also led to an increase in the number of transactions made with the use of electronic signatures. Thus, during the last year, a total of 10 675 293 authentication and electronic signature-related operations have been carried out in the country. 8 992 379 of them were carried out by government agencies, 1 645 574 – by legal entities and individuals, 37 340 – by citizens.
A total of 3 973 472 transactions were carried out during the second quarter of 2019. 3 507 322 of them were carried out by government agencies, 453 930 – by legal entities and individuals, 12 220 – by citizens.
Note that electronic signature is one of the means of identifying a user in the virtual environment. According to the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan, electronic documents signed with an electronic signature are as legally valid as paper-based documents certified by handwritten signature and seal.
