Law enforcement officers of the Russian Federation and the EU liquidated a large cybercrime network
Law enforcement officials of Russia and the European Union jointly thwarted the activities of a cybercriminal group that stole the personal data of tens of thousands of customers of banks in the Russian Federation and the EU. About this interview, "RIA Novosti" said the head of the Russian section of the International Police Association, Lieutenant General Yuri Zhdanov.
According to Zhdanov, Russian law enforcement officers regularly communicate with their foreign colleagues, exchange tips and take part in joint operations. For example, last month, together with the police of the European Union, through the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, a large criminal network was liquidated that stole the data of Russian citizens and stored them on servers in Europe.
Participants in the cybercrime group were several dozen people. They stole data from computer networks of banks in Russia and the European Union, including Sweden, Germany and several other countries. During a joint operation, German police officers helped identify cybercriminals outside the Russian Federation and destroy the information they stole in order to avoid its improper use.
As previously reported by ScurityLab, last year, data from more than 70 million customers of 42 Russian banks were sold on underground Internet forums.
