American cellular operator sets a new 5G download speed record

American mobile operator Verizon, in collaboration with Qualcomm and Ericsson, set a new 5G data to download speed record mmWave. The company managed to achieve an amazing figure of 5.06 Gbps. Recall that the last record using Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and Nokia equipment was 1.8 Gbps.

The operator said that this is far from the limit. Once it reaches maturity, 5G is expected to be able to demonstrate speeds of up to 10 Gbps, with a latency of up to 5 milliseconds and deployment time of up to 90 minutes. This will provide a stable Internet connection when driving at speeds up to 500 km / h.

It is worth noting that the operator has promised that in the future, up to a million concurrently connected devices per square kilometer will be able to operate in its 5G networks. Such prospects are encouraging. Even 4G LTE networks can be considered quite fast, but 5G promises very low latency and stable connection to the network of many devices at the same time, which brings cellular communication to a new level.
