Realme aims to ship 100 million 5G phones in 3 years
China-based handset brand Realme reportedly aims to sell 100 million 5G smartphones in the next three years, according to industry sources.
Having launched 14 models of 5G phones in 21 markets, the vendor plans to release over 20 more models for sale in 50 markets before 2022.
It plans to launch its first flagship 5G model in the latter half of second-quarter 2021, the sources indicated.
To reach its shipment goals for the next three years, it plans to invest US$300 million to develop related 5G technology and products in the next two years, including plans to develop sub-US$100 5G models, added the sources.
Sales of 5G models currently account for 40% of Realme's total smartphone shipments, said the sources.
