President signs decree to apply law on “Ensuring intellectual property rights and combating piracy”


Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree to apply the law on "Ensuring intellectual property rights and combating piracy". The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to prepare the proposals on coordinating other laws, acts of the country's President, regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers with the law and to submit these proposals to the President.

Moreover, the Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to determine the rules for issuing identification numbers upon the international standards and the amount of payment for issuing these numbers, to establish rules for issuing the control marks and their use, to determine the amount of payment for receiving the control marks within three months.

The Cabinet f Ministers has been instructed to determine the rules of the objects of the State Register of Copyright and Related Rights, which are supposed to have check mark (audiovisual works, phonogram, a computer program, database, book) within three months. Moreover, the Cabinet of Ministers must prepare a bill determining the types of liability for violating the law within three months and submit it to the President. The decree was signed on July 6, 2012.
