Scientists develop ‘cell layers’ stimulating growth of blood vessels in tissues

A team of scientists from Russia and China developed patterns that can be used to stimulate the growth of blood vessels in tissues affected by ischemia. Scientists created tissue-engineering patterns called “cell layers”, which can stimulate vascular growth and regenerative processes in tissues suffering from ischemia. According to one of the authors of the invention Pavel Makarevich, the results show that there is the possibility of developing a new method of regenerative medicine based on the use of cell layers as an effective biomaterial that does not contain synthetic and xenogenic components.“In future, this metod can be effectivly used for treatment of burn defects, venous ulcers, heart diseases, limb ischemia, and other common diseases.”
