Siberian scientists have developed the fastest flash drive in the world

Scientists from Novosibirsk have developed a flash-based graphene, which replaces the traditional silicon and increased the speed of operation in 2-3 times.

The staff of the Institute of semiconductor physics named after A.V. Rzhanov Novosibirsk have created a flash-based multigravida, that is, several layers of material. This publication reports the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences «Science in Siberia».

Scientists explained that the device for storing the information created based on multigraft, at the time of information storage and speed of action can get ahead of counterparts from the other materials in the base.

The new flash drive works on injecting and storing electrical charge in multigrain, which is a storage medium.

As shown by experiments, multigrain longer keeps electric charge, thereby increasing the retention time and the speed of the device compared to flash drives with traditional silicon based.

Institute of physics Yuri Novikov noted that the commercial production of flash drives with graphene-based is too early to say, because to create them you will need to build a factory with the latest equipment, the cost of which the scientist was estimated at $ 5 billion. He said that at the Institute are engaged in fundamental research with prototypes of the device.
