Recommendations regarding the transition to standard time

According to Decision No. 21 of the Cabinet of Ministers "On introduction of daylight saving time in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan" dated March 17, 1997, each year, the transition to daylight saving time took place on the last Sunday of March - the clocks were set forward an hour. And the transition to standard time took place on the last Sunday in October – the clocks were set back an hour.

Under Decision No. 131 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated March 17, 2016, the above-mentioned decision was canceled and Azerbaijan didn’t switch to daylight saving time on 27 March.

So there was no need to set the clocks back one hour on the last Sunday of October (i.e. October 30).

However, the time in some mobile devices automatically switched back one hour this evening.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies, this happened because the appropriate software updates hadn’t been installed on these mobile devices and "Automatic setting of time by network time server" and "Automatic time zone selection" options hadn’t been activated on them.

To correct the error, the owners of these mobile devices must activate these options on them.

Similarly, such an error can be corrected on computer systems as well, by activating "Automatic time zone selection" option on "Time setting" panel.

No failures have so far occurred in the operation of communication and computer systems, systems are working normally and Azerbaijan’s standard time zone shows GMT+4.

Users are asked to follow the above-stated recommendations.
