Dubai customs officers begin wearing Google smart glasses
Dubai customs officers have begun using Google smart glasses to scan containers at checkpoints.
Advanced technology makes customs work faster and easier, as inspectors get X-rays instantly and are able to take adequate measures.
Thanks to a special application that receives information through the glasses, customs officers receive all the information they need for their work.
Today, the number of customs declarations issued by the agency has increased 10-fold - from one hundred to one thousand a day.
If previously the processing of one cargo took 2 days, now the procedure has been reduced to three minutes.
Note that one of the main highlights of the glasses - the screen fixed before the user's eye - has a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels, which Google estimates as equivalent to a 25-inch high-definition display, located about 2.5 meters away.
Built-in 5-megapixel camera will allow the user to record video of 720p high-definition resolution.
To store data and applications, the user will have 12 of 16 gigabytes of memory available in the device.
The battery lasts for a day under the normal load, however, as the company notes, some functions (for example, video recording) will consume the charge faster.
The device is equipped with wireless modules of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth standards. With the help of the latter the glasses can work in tandem with a smartphone, reports the Russian Emirates.
