Disney Research presented energy-efficient data transfer technology

Specialists from Disney Research have developed a system that allows users to transfer data by  reusing surrounding radio waves from broadcast systems and telephones.

A similar approach is used by RFID tags, but this connection doesn’t have  a wide range, which means that it is not  effective enough for the Internet of things.

However, the system offers more sources and channels, which in turn provides a much larger range.

According to the test results, the researchers managed to transfer data to a distance of up to 50 meters.

The main feature of the system is the reduction of power requirements, due to which it is possible to achieve lower power consumption.

In addition, the technology will be completely useless in remote areas, away from civilization.

Nevertheless, the invention can be employed within the “smart house” concept, 4pda.ru reports.
