At the Paris air show in Le Bourget, held from 19 to 25 June, the Israeli company Elbit Systems was first demonstrated to the world the camera SkEye Wide-Area Persistent Surveillance. The new development is unique not only because it is one of the most advanced cameras for aerial video with a resolution of a billion pixels, but also the ability to cover “eye” area of 80 square kilometers, transmitting data in real time.

SkEye camera capable of recording on such a large area due to the retrofit system, Visual Intelligence (VISINT), which is already available on most drones. In addition, if necessary, the camera is able to record only a specific small area. Data from electro-optical sensors of the UAV is transferred to the preliminary processing system and stored in local storage.

After a series of programmatic transformations of the data stream is transmitted to the control Center where, in addition to pictures, made a backup in the cloud. System configuration the cloud storage allows you to access stored data simultaneously 10 operators. In addition, SkEye equipped with alarms that can be triggered when you hit the required objects or events (for example, fire or a wanted criminal in a stolen vehicle) in the field of view of the camera. As reported by the designers, camera SkEye can be installed on manned aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Moreover, the class aircraft is not practically play any role. The camera is universal.
