Open Government Data Portal takes the first place

The Open Government Data Portal (www.data.gov.az), created by the Data Processing Center of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, took the first place in the “MilliNet” (National Internet Award) competition, in the nomination “Electronic government”.

At yesterday’s presentation ceremony, it was noted that there were 25 pieces of data in the Open Government Data Portal in 2016, and that more than 650 services were available for citizens this year.

Thanks to the portal, people can access information that can be useful to them.

At the same time, programmers develop applications that can be useful for the public by utilizing information provided by state agencies on the portal.

A good example of this are 19 socially important, functional mobile applications that were developed within the “See, Use, Create!” mobile apps development contest, which was announced recently by the Data Processing Centre.

The 3 most successful applications presented to the contest were awarded.

To develop these applications, the contest participants used mostly the open government data of the State Statistical Committee, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The website of the project “Poçtap”, which was presented to the contest by the Data Processing Centre, was awarded the 3rd place in the nomination “Electronic Government”.

The “Poçtap” service is intended for search of lost documents. Within this service, the found documents are accepted by postal institutions, and their owners are searched.  If the owners are found, the lost documents are returned to them. Otherwise, they are sent to the relevant authority.

Note that the national internet award- Millinet is a professional internet award instituted by Internet Forum of Azerbaijan (IFA).  Millinet award is presented every year to the national Internet resources and Internet projects that are composed in Azerbaijani language and  cover social, cultural, scientific, economic, legal and other spheres.

This year, winners in 18 nominations were awarded.
