Android “Nougat” finally becomes most used version replacing previous leader “Marshmallow”


After 18 months after Google launched its ‘Nougat’ version Android, which finally finds its spot in Android distribution chart. The chart shows that Nougat, has now taken crown from Marshmallow, the previous leader in the market. Even the chart shows that Android Oreo has also past one percent mark.
 
According to a report by NDTV Gadgets 360, Google has released the Android distribution chart for February 2018 and Android Nougat now comprises 28.5 percent of the overall market share and Android Marshmallow stands at 28.1 percent. The Nougat 7.0 version took up a larger share with 22.3 percent (up from 21.1 percent in January) and Nougat 7.1 has 6.2 percent market share (up from 5.2 percent in January).
 
Meanwhile, Android 5.0 and 5.1 Lollipop combine to make up 24.6 per cent of all active devices. Android 4.4 KitKat has dipped marginally from 12.8 per cent last month to 12 per cent this month, while Android Jelly Bean is running in 5 per cent of all devices. Meanwhile, Android Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich are still kicking in under 1 per cent of total active devices.
 
A lot more smartphones in recent weeks have started receiving the Oreo update including the OnePlus 5T, Moto X4 and Honor 8 Pro among others.
