HTC predicts major changes in the design of smartphones

HTC Chief Executive Officer Sher Wong made some interesting comments as to what to expect from smartphones in the future. According to her, with the launch of the fifth generation networks, we are expected to radically change the traditional design of smartphones.

Since the release of the first iPhone, smartphones have not fundamentally changed. Like 11 years ago, most of them are a parallelepiped with a screen in front. For all these years we have followed the increase in the diagonal of the display and the reduction of the frames, but there have been no major changes. According to Sher Wong, with the advent of 5G everything will be different: smartphones will depart from their usual form.

"Smartphones can differ from a brilliant rectangle, as we know them and love today. I think that they will take other forms, since 5G reduces the need for a device based on processing power, "said Sher Wong.

What specifically had in mind the head of HTC - is not specified. Perhaps she hinted at the appearance of folding smartphones or the fact that they will be replaced by wearable devices.
