Xiaomi-backed Xiaomo CG010 AI camera goes on sale in China

A Xiaomi-backed company Morse Technology has launched a new AI-powered smart camera, called the Xiaomo CG010. The camera touts itself as an AI-powered shooter, allowing users to use gestures and expressions to control the camera. For example, the camera is capable of detecting hand gestures or smiles to capture images, and also comes with magnets that let you attach it to certain surfaces. The device has been listed on an e-commerce website called Youpin in China at 399 Yuan ($62), with the listing spotted by GizmoChina.

The key feature of the camera is its ability to recognize gestures. Specific hand gestures can be programmed to easily control the camera – a wave or clasp of the hand will instruct the camera to capture. The device is powered by a quad-core processor, which allows it to work the way it does. It can even rotate on its base, allowing you to change the angle of capture no matter how you’ve attached the base to a surface.

The device has a 13-megapixel sensor, which lets it capture both video (at 720p resolution) and stills. The camera has a 910mAh battery and 8GB of internal storage, with the option for storage expansion through the micro-SD card slot. The low price of the camera means that it’s naturally simple, but will come in handy for users who want to capture creative pictures of themselves without much help. The camera is fairly compact as well.

For now, it’s only available online in China, with no word on whether the device will launch anywhere else globally. It’s available in two colors currently – white and grey.
