HMD Launches Nokia 2.1 With A Bigger Screen, Stereo Speakers & A Better Design

The first of the new Nokia phones from HMD Global is the Nokia 2.1 or Nokia 2 (2018). The new Nokia 2.1 moves from being a regular device to joining the Nokia 1 as an Android Go phone.

The phone has gotten a redesign and now looks more premium. Just like the Nokia 6.1, the Nokia 2.1 has that copper colored metal line that runs around the frame of the phone.

The Nokia 2.1 comes with a larger 5.5-inch screen but keeps the resolution at 720p. Above and beneath the display are front-facing stereo speakers for an impressive audio experience. The display is covered with an anti-fingerprint coating.

The Snapdragon 212 processor has been replaced with the Snapdragon 425 but RAM and storage remain 1GB and 8GB respectively. However, storage can be expanded by up to an additional 128GB via a dedicated MicroSD card slot.

The cameras have also remained unchanged. There is an 8MP sensor on the rear and a 5MP fixed focus sensor up in front. The phone has WiFi, GPS, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It also packs a 4000mAh battery which Nokia says should last up to 2 days. The Micro USB port has also been replaced with a USB-C port.

The Nokia 2.1 will come in three colors – blue copper, blue silver, and gray silver. It will sell for $115 and will go on sale in July.
