Visa and MasterCard test cards with fingerprint sensors

Visa and MasterCard international payment systems test incorporation of the system of identification of card holders by their fingerprints.

According to RBC, referring to The Wall Street Journal, card will be valid when the owner puts finger on the special sensor of the card. The information about the fingerprint will be collected in the special inbuilt chip, which is usually placed above the card number.

During the purchase of a product via bank terminal the chip will detect whether the fingerprint corresponds to the fingerprint of the owner of the card, the one which the memory of the card saved.

The supporters of this technology think that it will help protect clients from fraudulent activities. Thus, if the card is stolen, the chip will not allow payments.

The publication does not provide information on the date of the launch of the new technology.
