Nokia X71 with 48-megapixel camera and hole-punch display launches in Taiwan
After announcing the Nokia X7 and Nokia 8.1 late last year, HMD Global today expands its lineup of mid-range smartphones with the debut of the Nokia X71 in Taiwan, where the Nokia 9 PureView has also arrived. The handset marks the company's foray into the punch hole display trend.
The Nokia X71 sports a 6.39-inch Full HD+ display with a 93% screen to body ratio and 500 nits of maximum brightness, which is enough for outdoor screen viewing. The punch hole encompasses the 16MP front camera.
On the back panel sits the fingerprint sensor and the triple camera setup with a 48MP Zeiss-certified main shooter supplemented by a 5MP depth sensor and an 8MP ultra wide-angle camera with a 120° perspective.
The rear camera is claimed to be capable of capturing bright shots in low light conditions with a minimum amount of noise, owing to its 1.6μm sensitivity. The phone has a 2.5D double-sided glass design and an aluminum frame. One interesting aspect of its design is the power button that produces a white light for various types of notifications including new messages and missed calls. Additionally, it works to indicate the phone's battery life level.
Under the hood, the Nokia X71 is powered by a Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It also packs a 3,500mAh battery that supports 18W of fast charging.
The device runs Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. It will retail for NT$11,900 (~$385) from April 30 in Taiwan. While there's no word yet on its availability abroad, the phone is expected to arrive overseas as the Nokia 8.1 Plus in the future.
