Azerbaijan hosts international Lightest Forum

The international Lightest Forum, organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies (MTCHT), started on May 27 in Azerbaijan. The forum will be held from 27 to 30 May 2019. Along with the specialists of the Data Processing Center, the forum is attended by foreign experts. This project serves the implementation of reliable transactions and verification of identification data in cross-border electronic services between the European Union and Azerbaijan, mutual recognition of electronic signatures of partner countries at the international level.

The goal of the Lightest project is to use the existing global inter-domain trust (DNS) infrastructure for conducting electronic services across the border, which will make it transparent and easy for verifier devices when evaluating electronic transactions. The establishment of more secure electronic relations with the member countries of the European Union, the creation of electronic services at the global level, interstate data exchange further increases the importance of the Lightest. The project involves 14 partners from 9 countries - Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, UK and Turkey.

Note that the second day of the forum held yesterday in Shamakhy region. Opening the event, head of the executive power of Shamakhy region Tahir Mammadov welcomed the guests and thanked the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies. He expressed interest in implementing the decisions discussed at the forum in Shamakhy region and continuing such activities in the region.

Speaking about cooperation with the Lightest project, director of Data Processing Center Elnar Asadov noted that in the future this project could become the best technology in conducting transactions with European countries.

Addressing the forum, Doctor of Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering and Applied Research, the coordinator of the Lightest project Heiko Rossnagel informed the forum participants about the Lightest project - “global reliability”. It was noted that one of the main issues in establishing a global electronic relationship is a clear definition of the other side, and the Lightest in this process is an infrastructure that creates a chain of trust confirming the reliability of the means of determining identity – the electronic signature, and indirectly the reliability of the Certification Services Center, which provides electronic signature. “We do not replace electronic signatures, but provide them with infrastructure for more reliable inter-domain trust, which makes the work of electronic signatures more efficient,” he underlined.

The forum  was continued with presentations from leading European technical  research centers on the topics: “Business prospects and areas of implementation of the Lightest project”, “Efficiency of trust policy verification tools - concept, design and evaluation”, “Verification of automatic trust in the Lightest”, “Concept and sample applications on the center of distribution of the trust scheme”,  “Commissioner for the publication of the trust scheme - samples of the concept and applications ”. During the presentations, information was provided on the operation of reliable systems and their technical policies.

The third day of the forum was held in Baku. Today, foreign experts also spoke on various topics relating to the Lightest.

Note that the Lightest project creates important solutions for the services provided by all public and private enterprises of the European Union, and helps to identify false identity cards in electronic transactions. This solution on the platforms of various applications guarantees the approval of electronic signatures, including the reliability of sensors and tools on the “Internet of Things” in the field of e-procurement, e-justice, e-health and legal spheres.

It will be recalled that the MTCHT organized the presentation of the “Lightest” project - “global reliability” in Baku in January 2018.
