Azerbaijani mobile operator prepares base to get license for 4G


Azerbaijani mobile operator Azerfon invested $ 80 million to expand 3G network coverage across the country during this year and to construct base stations to deploy 4G network, Azerfon Corporate Communications Department head Elshad Farzaliyev told media today.

"After the required base is ready, the company will appeal to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to obtain a license for 4G deployment," Farzaliyev said.

He said that the company is already preparing the necessary documentation. About 120,000 subscribers use 3G services daily, Farzaliyev said.

Azerfon company, known as Nar Mobile and Azerfon-Vodafone brands, started its operations in Azerbaijan in 2007. At present, this is the most innovative and transparent telecommunication company. At present, Azerfon network covers 80 percent of Azerbaijani territory by offering services based on 3G.
