Microsoft invented the laptop on solar power
Microsoft showed a concept laptop powered by solar energy. Edition Windows Latest suggested that such a device could fill a line of Surface Pro.
The invention was submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in the second half of 2018, but appeared on the website of the organization only in January 2020. According to the description and the diagram on the back of the laptop there are several photocells, which are connected with the battery device.
Solar panels can fuel the device’s battery during autonomous operation, when the laptop is not connected to the mains. The application states that charging will fit not only the sun, but artificial lights such as incandescent lamps. Thanks to the folding design panel can optionally be hidden in the computer case. The document does not specify how much time is required to fully charge the computer from alternative energy sources.
The publication believes that such a device may appear in the next generation laptops from Microsoft. The device line is the Surface Pro 7, introduced in October 2019. On the background of the end of support of Windows 7, Microsoft recommended OS users to switch to laptops Surface.
