European Commission proposes a new digital strategy for Europe

The European Commission has announced proposals for a digital strategy that will include principles for the use and control of digital data in Europe, reports Reuters.

In addition, rules were established for the management and implementation of artificial intelligence and the regulation of the activities of American technology giants such as Facebook, Google and Amazon.

A package of measures and proposals will determine the digital future of Europe, said the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

“It covers everything from cybersecurity to critical infrastructures, from digital education to skills, from democracy to the media. I want digitalization in Europe to reflect the best in Europe – openness, justice, diversity, democracy and self-confidence,” she said.

The aim of these measures is to create a single European data market and to ensure that the use of artificial intelligence technology takes into account confidentiality and ethical concerns.

The plans also stipulate that data centers in Europe will be climate neutral by 2030.
