OPPO A12 with 4230mAh battery, dual rear cameras launched

Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO has silently taken the wraps off its latest offering in the OPPO A-series of smartphones, dubbed the OPPO A12. The OPPO A12 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 processor. It comes with a waterdrop notch display and has a dual rear camera setup. Clearly, the OPPO A12 falls somewhere between the budget and the mid-range segment of the Android ecosystem.

The OPPO A12 is priced at 24,99,000 Indonesian Rupiah, which roughly translates to somewhere around $161 or around Rs 12,340. The device comes in two color variants – black and blue. So far, the company has not given any official word on when the device will be launched in the remaining parts of the world.

Starting with the display of the device, the OPPO A12 sports a 6.22-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch at the top. The display of the device gives a resolution of 1,520 x 720 pixels and is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The power button is on the right side of the device, while the volume up and down buttons are on the left side. The OPPO A12 measures 155.9 x 75.5 x 8.3mm and weighs in at 165 grams. The device comes with a rear-mounted physical fingerprint scanner.

Under the hood, the OPPO A12 is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 processor (ARM Cortex A53 CPU), which is assisted by 3GB/4GB of RAM, an IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU, and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. If 64GB of storage does not suffice for your media consumption needs, the same can be expanded all the way up to 256GB with the help of an external SD card. On the software side of things, the OPPO A12 ships with the now-dated Android 9 Pie out of the box with the company’s in-house ColorOS 6.1 skin baked on top of it.

For photography enthusiasts out there, the OPPO A12 boasts a dual rear camera setup, which consists of a 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP secondary camera with f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera module is horizontally aligned and to the right side of it, there’s an LED flash. At the front, the OPPO A12 features a 5MP selfie snapper with f/2.4 aperture.

As far as the battery of the device is concerned, the OPPO A12 is fueled by a 4,230mAh battery. Sadly enough, there is no scope for fast charging when it comes to the OPPO A12. Plus, the OPPO A12 features a dated micro USB 2.0 charging port. Thankfully enough, the OPPO A12 retains a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Connectivity features of the OPPO A12 include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/GLONASS.
