Minister: Internet TV broadcasting may be licensed in Azerbaijan

The output of the companies engaged in TV channels broadcasting on the Internet, may require licencing, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov told the media. The minister said that at present, over 20 TV channels are broadcasting on the Internet.

"At present, a licence is not required to broadcast TV channels on the Internet," he said. "In this regard, they operate freely. We think that this is the beginning and they must master this technology and develop it. However it may become necessary for the National Television and Radio Council to consider issuing a licence for Internet-TV."
