Azerbaijani manufacturer to provide digital TV decoders at affordable prices

The cost of DVB-T-decoders produced at the Azerbaijan Ministry of Defence Industry plant PEYK, will not exceed 30 manat, plant manager Siyavush Aliyev told.

Mr Aliyev said that the production of decoders will begin by the end of December, and be available on the market in early 2012 under the brand name of DVB-T PEYK.

"We have already ordered a large shipment of DVB-T-decoders parts from Taiwan. They will come to us as soon as possible. The production of these devices will be regulated by consumer demand. While sales of these devices are not very big, they are bought by those who appreciate the quality of television pictures.

Full transition to digital broadcasting as you know is expected to be in place by the end of 2012. The demand for these devices will increase significantly by that time," he said.

The price factor will play an important role in the positive effect on sales of these products and therefore the cost of DVB-T-decoders produced at the PEYK plant will be more than affordable and will not exceed 30 manat.

Mr Aliyev noted earlier that the prototype presented at the National Council for Radio and Television has been tested successful, and today this issue is being discussed at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan.

The demand for these devices in the domestic market could reach 1.5 million units, experts suggested
