The meeting was opened by the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of the Nakhchivan AR Rovshan Mammadov. He spoke about the activities being implemented in connection with the preparation for the Autumn/Winter season. He noted that the ministry prepared the Activity Plan to provide the population with high quality and continuous communication services.
"Under the Activity Plan, measures are now being implemented in order to prevent emergency situations such as electric power interruptions from happening during the winter season. As part of these activities, relays, stabilizers, post office boxes, connection lines which are vulnerable to power alternations have been fitted with safety blocks".
The Minister said that due to the increased use of generators and accumulators in winter months, highly skilled specialists were appointed a few years ago to carry out maintenance service of this equipment. "Once every quarter all auxiliary equipment undergoes maintenance checkup.
All these measures help to keep equipment in good working order and to prolong its life time. New office buildings have been constructed for communication facilities in recent years in order to create good working conditions for postal and telecommunications workers. Construction of boiling-houses in regional centers helped to solve problems with heating in communication facilities. Now, 68 out of 117 ATSs and 87 out of 128 post offices are located in new buildings".

Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Nakhchivan AR has held a board meeting in connection with the preparation for 2012-2013 Autumn/Winter season.
