“Internet Governance for Development” (IG4D) will be the main issue on IGF’s agenda. During the activity representatives of governments, businesses and civil societies will discuss various problems existing in such areas as internet security, transparency, internet access, privacy, freedom of speech. Participants of the forum will get familiarized with different models of the global internet governance.
The persons and organizations, which will not be able to come to Baku, will be provided with an opportunity to take part in the 4-day activity from a distance. They will be able to follow events taking place at the forum from their homes or workplaces.
Live broadcast of the forum will be provided at “http://www.intgovforum.org/cms/” internet address. Besides that, within the framework of the forum, special centers have been established across the world, where interested persons will be able to follow the forum’s activity.
Let’s note that IGF will be held at the same time with “Baku-2012” exhibition and conference, an event traditionally organized in Azerbaijan every year. The forum participants will be acquainted with achievements gained in Azerbaijan in the ICT sphere through the implementation of numerous regional and international projects. They will also be shown the latest technological novelties being employed in Azerbaijan in this sphere.
VII Internet Governance Forum to be held in Baku on 6-9 November 2012
The VII Internet Governance Forum (IGF) organized jointly by UN and Azerbaijan Government will be held in Baku on 6-9 November, 2012. The forum, which will be held under the topic “Internet Governance for Sustainable Human, Economic and Social Development, is expected to be attended by Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs of UN Wu Hongbo, General Secretary of the International Telecommunication Union Hamadun Ture, ICT officials from about 100 countries, and over 1,500 delegations consisting of representatives of private sectors, civil societies, internet communities, international organizations and mass media.
