The head of the Apsheron Telecommunication Hub Eyub Ismayilov told that the association is introducing a new PON technology in “Gurtulush-93” settlement. PON is a prospective technology, which provides broadband and multiservice access to optik-lif line.
According to Ismayilov, there are 42-43 five-storey, single-section houses in this residential community with total share of occupied dwelling space - 25%. Construction of the building for new EATS has already been finished in the settlement, and laying of fiber-optical cable is under completion.
Currently, cable for PON technology is being laid in 12 buildings at the settlement within the pilot project. Works on creating a network for the new EATS with capacity of 1,024 numbers have already started in the settlement.
At present, the contracting organization continues building cable-sewage pits. “The main difference between ADSL and PON technologies is that the latter offers a wider spectrum of services”, Ismayilov said.
If an ADSL subscriber can use only one service (broadband access to the internet), subscribers of PON are offered several services on beneficial terms (access to the telephone, television and internet networks).
It should be noted that widening of "Aztelekom" network at the expense of additional switching equipment allows operators to extend coverage of telephone services, new subscriber services and additional communication services.
