At present, there are about 40 subscribers of IP-TV in Shamakha, and the network is expanding there. The NGN network is also expanding in Ganja, Apsheron and Sumgait. Broadcasting of television and video-information through IP channels has a number of technical advantages over the cable and satellite TV-broadcasting.
The feedback subscriber channel allows operators to render additional services. Besides, a subscriber equipment, working in IP environment, may transmit web-pages, e-mail, videoconferences and any other content to the television screen.
Broadcasting of television and radio-channels in “IP-multicast” multiuser mode constitute the largest part of “Video-over-IP” services. As result, each channel is represented as a separate group at the address to which it has been transmitted.
“Base service of TV broadcasting through IP” means broadcasting of TV channels of the state television and commercial TV companies with high quality of picture and possibility of navigating through the viewed programs. These services include IP TV, TvoIP and IP TV-broadcasting.
“Nvod” (Near Video on Demand) service is a program that is transmitted in IP multicast mode and stored at provider’s server as a video and audio information. A user joins other viewers during one of sessions. Video information stored at provider’s server is transmitted directly to the user in IP-unicast (one user) mode.
“nPVR” (network based Personal video Recorder) service allows the user to create a personal videotape recorder at provider’s server. The video tape recorder has standard functions and works on “VoD” principle.The television content prerecorded in IP multicast mode is called “Time Shifted TV”. “Video-over-IP” services include an interactive electronic dictionary that allows users to make independent content requests.
Aztelecom PU conducts price policy to expand IP-TV services
Aztelecom Production Unit is considering a possibility of employment of IP-TV services in the regions of the republic, especially in big cities.
