Over 13,000 domain names registered in '.az' zone

According to statistics of 5 March 2012, roughly 13,659 domain names were registered in ".az" zone, Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies reported.

At the beginning of the year, the number of canceled domains was 492 while the registered was 1,053. Moreover, 614 ".com.az" domains were registered, Gun.Az reports. The rest of the domain were registered in the following order:









1. .pro.az 4
2. .name.az 5
3. .biz.az 14
4. .info.az 21
5. .co.az 29
6. .pp.az 42
7. .int.az 44
8. .net.az 55
9. .org.az 91
10. .edu.az 138

".mil.az", ".samux.az", ".zaqatala.az", ".ganja.az", ".shamaxi.az" və ".imishli.az" had only one domain per each.

Note that in 1993, the Internet Corporation For Assigned Names and Numbers (İCANN) passed a decision to give ".az" domain zone to the Azerbaijani state.
