There is a need for increasing the number of Azerbaijan-language resources in the Internet

According to information provided by the Institute of Information Technologies (IIT) of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), there is a need for increasing the number of Azerbaijan-language resources in the Internet.
 
“Expansion of the fields of application of Azerbaijan language in the context of globalization is one of the priorities of the state policy. Today, Azerbaijan significantly lags behind developed countries in the national language websites – population ratio. In particular, it should be noted that the share of educational resources is much lower in comparison with entertainment resources. And there are objective and subjective reasons for this. At the same time, it necessary to hold a more comprehensive analysis of topics and information exchange by different demographic groups of users. Such situation creates problems for citizens of the country who have to use foreign websites because of a lack of Azerbaijan language resources. And those citizens who don’t know any foreign language suffer most from this problem. People better understand information, which is presented to them in their native language. So the scarcity of Azerbaijan language websites makes it difficult for people to absorb and share information.”
