Chrome sets a new browser market record

Chrome not only remains to be the most popular browser in the world, but also continues to set new records, as evidenced by the data of the NetMarketShare service, which tracks the activity of more than 160 million unique users who view over 40,000 sites around the world.

In April 2016, Chrome for the first time outstripped Internet Explorer in popularity among web browsers for personal computers, fixing its market share at 41.71% against 36.61% of the opponent. In July 2017, Chrome's leadership increased: the presence indicator rose to a record 59.6%, while the Microsoft product, on the contrary, continued to show a drop (the share fell to 16.5%).

The popularity of Internet Explorer began to fall rapidly after Microsoft in early 2016 stopped supporting all versions of Internet Explorer except the 11th one.  Since that time, security updates and technical support have not been provided for Internet Explorer 10 and older versions of Microsoft's web browser.

Firefox, whose share increased from 12% to 12.3% 9 over last month, still remains among the top three most popular browsers for desktops and laptops. The share of Safari in decreased to 3.66% in July.
