The number of broadband connections in the network of state Internet service provider BakinterNet daily has increased by 200-250 units, Baku Telephone Communication Production Unit director general Beytulla Huseynov told. Huseynov said taking into account other commercial providers' connections, this figure hits 300.
"If these rates remain, then by mid-2012 the total number of broadband connections in Baku will exceed 400,000 units. At present, number of active Internet users in Baku is 130,000, and the total number of free ports of broadband Internet has reached 200,000," he said. By late 2011, according to Huseynov's forecasts, the number of broadband connections in the capital will reach 200,000.
