House of Commons seeks web hosting services for Parliament website

The House of Commons and House of Lords is looking for a hosting partner to provide web hosting services for the Parliament website and intranet.

An online tender indicates that hosting for the online channels is currently provided by a "range of internal and external suppliers with varying service levels and provision".

Parlament is looking to rationalise this current system, establish service levels that are in line with business needs, and select a provider that can deliver support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Parliament also expects to reduce costs as a result of rationalisation. The selected supplier will deliver the installation of the agreed platform and assist with the migration of all sites and online assets.

The tender describes Parliament's website and intranet as "high profile" and "increasingly business critical". It also highlights the fact that all online channels are vulnerable to malicious attack.

In the past 12 months the sites have received 16 million visits, and 10 million unique visitors, with daily traffic varying between 6,000 and 158,000 visits.
