Apple said its aware of six incidents worldwide. The company said the recall doesn't pertain to Apple USB power adapters.
The adapters were shipped with Mac and certain iOS devices between 2003 and 2010, according to Apple. The plugs were also included with the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit. The company also recalled the Travel kit in the affected areas.
"Customer safety is always Apple's top priority, and we have voluntarily decided to exchange affected wall plug adapters with a new adapter, free of charge," Apple said on its support page.
Affected wall plugs are "white, with no letters in the inside slot where it attaches to an Apple power adapter," according to Apple. To exchange the adapter, you need to find your device's serial number in advance so the company can verify it. Next, you can exchange the adapter at an Apple Service Provider, by appointment at an Apple Store or by contacting Apple Support.
