In accordance with the contract signed by the Azerbaijani Airlines (AZAL), Azerfon (Nar Mobile) and Swiss "OnAir" company in 2011, AZAL airplanes will be provided with the full assortment of mobile communication services, according to the press release of Azerfon issued on 24 February 2012.
"AZAL prepares to apply mobile communication services in airplanes during flight on the basis of Azerfon mobile operator’s services and certain equipments of Swiss ‘OnAir’ company.
Certain technical work has already been carried out and experts were involved to this end. According to the exclusive 10-year contract signed with Azerfon, mobile communication services will be available only in AZAL airplanes and only based in Azerfon services. This is one of the first such projects in the CIS space and this is the indication of the development of the national aviation and our telecommunication industry," an official of the Airlines stressed.
AZAL to apply Azerfon mobile services
