He says government-industry collaboration will encourage Victorian companies, researchers and end-users to team up on the development and delivery of technology solutions.

The DFF is a another initiative under the Victorian government’s “Technology Plan for the Future.” This program factors in a budget of US$90 million (AUD$85 million) on ICT innovation.
Among recent high-profile projects, the government has supported a cloud computing and data centre facility at the Port of Melbourne. This regional hub taps into growing demand for cloud computing services, and high volumes of internet data and broadband traffic.

The Victorian Government is spending US$11.7 million (AUD$11 million) on a new Digital Futures Fund (DFF) to fast-track research and development into data mining, analytics, cloud computing and cyber-security.These technology platforms will support the state’s foray into a “digital future,” and are seen as areas of strategic importance.
