According to a similar research done by UK regulator Ofcom an average mobile broadband speed in UK is 1,5mbps. “This research gives customers of mobile broadband services a general picture of performance of 3G datacards. We feel very satisfied with this result as the average 3G speed in Azerbaijan is higher than in UK, the country that launched 3G since 2007” – said the chairman of WTA Mr. Ali Aliyev.
The research was conducted by WTA in Baku and 15 major cities with available 3G network and dealt with datacards only, not mobile phones. The study found that 3G mobile broadband provided by Azerfon-Vodafone and Nar Mobile loads webpages for average of 6-7 seconds. The report suggests that speed varied greatly depending on locations and in areas with good 3G coverage average mobile speed rose to 3,5mbps research. “We feel proud for delivering high speed mobile connectivity for best prices in Azerbaijan. Our 3G network allows our customers in Baku and regions of Azerbaijan to enjoy real mobile broadband service at higher speed than in UK. Having summer season just started our customers will be often travelling to seaside and regions, and with our 3G services they will always have superior communication service. With 65mln USD we are investing this summer for further expansion and strengthening of our 2G and 3G network Azerbaijan will be ready to provide reliable mobile broadband even for Eurovision-2012 visitors” – said the CEO of Azerfon, Mr. Jurgen Peetz.
