In his opening statement titled ‘Electronic activity in the Nakhichivan State University: main results and current tasks’ I.Habibeyli spoke about the achievements made in Nakhichevan AR as a result of successfully implementing the state strategy for the formation of an information society and widening opportunities for using information and communication technologies in Azerbaijan.
Then, the minister of Communications and Information Technologies of Nakhichivan AR Rovshan Mammadov delivered a report titled “The current state and perspectives for the development of application of ICT in Nakhichevan AR”. In his report R.Mammadov told the meeting that Nakhichivan, which used to be in an information blockade, has now become a region playing a major role in building an information society in Azerbaijan.
“Under the leadership of the chairman of the Supreme Parliament of Nakhichivan AR Vasif Talibov, Nakhichivan has turned into a dynamically developing virtual space. Today, the latest information and communication technologies are being applied in education, medicine, economy and other spheres in Nakhichivan.
The digitalization process is being rapidly and successfully implemented in the Autonomous Republic”, R.Mammadov noted in his report. The director of the Information Technologies Institute of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Science (ANAS), the corresponding member of ANAS Rasim Aliguliyev made a statement titled ‘Opportunities and perspectives for forming a knowledge economy in Nakhichivan.
In his statement R.Aliguliyev gave a high assessment to the ‘Electronic Nakhichivan – 7: capabilities for using ICT in local network’ symposium by calling it the Nakhichivan Information Community Summit. The professor of the Batumi State University of Georgia Mikheil Donezde delivered a report titled ‘Building an automated system based on the GSM infrastructure for insuring security in corporate networks’.
During the activity a video-connection was established with the assistant to the rector of Ataturk University in Erzurum (Turkey), the general secretary of the Eurasia Silk Way Universities Consortium, professor Sebahettin Tuzemen and professor from Portugal Diamantino Lopes. Within the framework of the symposium a videoconference dedicated to the development of ICT was held between students of the Nakhichivan State University. The activity concluded with a colorful concert organized by teachers and students of the Art Department of the Nakhichivan State University.
