The first vice-president of ANAS, acad. Arif Hashimov, Director of the Institute of Cybernetics of ANAS, acad. Telman Aliyev, director of the Institute of Information Technologies of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS, prof. Rasim Alguliev, deputy president of ANAS, PhD Turab Ahmadov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Qatar to Azerbaijan Mohammed Al-Mannai took part in the meeting.
Welcoming the guests acad. Arif Hashimov gave detailed information about the research institutions of ANAS and their activities. The main activity of this higher institution is to strengthen the scientific base of large-scale reforms in the country, to assist their intensive implementation, to preserve and develop the existing scientific and technical potential, he said.
Ms. Hessa Sultan Al-Jaber spoke about the great importance of the universities operating in the field of ICT in her country. Qatar has always supported Azerbaijan from the political point of view, she said and stressed the importance of sustainable cooperation relations between the two countries in the field of ICT.
Acad. T. Aliyev stressed out that the first studies in the field of cybernetics carried out so far in 1952 in Azerbaijan, and the first computing machines were brought in 1958.
Speaking about the large-scale projects in the field of ICT carried out by the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS Rasim Alguliev stressed out that the institute is engaged with the problems of information technologies and information society.
Relevant organizations of ANAS, as well as the Institute of Information Technology participate in the developing the Concept of Development of the in our country - "Azerbaijan 2020: vision to the future", and important duties of abovementioned concept have been put forward in front of our scientists, said the scientist. IV International Conference on "Problems of Cybernetics and Informatics" (PCI2012) will be held in Baku, September of this year, he informed.
