The number of transactions increased by 57.8 per cent, or 4.47 million giving a total of 23.6 per cent, or 10.56 billion manat compared to the same period last year.
Average daily number of payments amounted to 92,500 worth 419.6 million manat in the first half of the year, (the figures were 58,600 and 339.5 million manat, respectively last year during the same period). Some 91.1 per cent of non-cash payments worth 50.48 billion manat have been realised through a system of AZİPS (a system of national inter-bank transactions in real time).
The total volume of transactions increased by 27.6 per cent compared to the same period last year. The average amount of a payment documents amounted to 240.8 thousand manat. Some 8.6 per cent of payments (4.9 billion manat) were carried out by XÖHKS (settlement and clearing system for small payments.) The share of XÖHKS accounts for 98.2 per cent of the number of payments by the end of the reporting period when their total number reached 11.99 million.
The volume of payments in the system increased by 54.7 per cent (1.73 billion manat), with the number - by 58.5 per cent (4.43 million). The amount of each payment was on average 411.3 manat. 'Commercial banks continued to improve their infrastructure for servicing plastic cards', the report says. Some 2227 ATMs and 36,310 POS-terminals served plastic cards during the first half of the year. The number of POS-terminals increased by 3.4 times compared to the same period last year.
Some 23,403,000 operations worth 3.565 billion manat have been carried out through ATMs during the first half of the year, through the POS-terminals, that means 1.988 million transactions are worth 234 million manat.
The number of cards increased by 245,500 to 4.8 million units during the year which means that every thousand people coming of age accounted for an average of 804.3 of payment cards. The use of banking services offered through the Internet is also expanded. Thus, 13.3 thousand transactions worth 2.7 million manat were carried out during the reporting period through the internet banking.
Usage of Internet banking increases in Azerbaijan
