This information was provided to “ICTnews” online news service by the Press Service of the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to the committee, over the reporting period, the following new technical committees have been created in Azerbaijan for important areas of the country’s economy: TK 11-“Land evaluation and geographical data/Geomatics”; TK 14-“Furniture industry products”; TK 15-“Grain and starchy foods.”
The technical committees have been approved and are already operating according to the activity plan. In 2012, 139 national standards answering international norms passed through the state registration, including 9 standards for communications and information technologies, 82 - for vehicles safety, 26 – for construction materials, 4 – foodstuffs, 2 – tourism, 6 - conformity assessment and quality control, 7 - other areas.

Work is now underway in Azerbaijan to coordinate activities carried out by standardization technical committees, which are an integral part of the county’s standardization system.
