Azerbaijan, which has always held leading positions among CIS countries, has left behind many leading countries in this rating.
Azerbaijan ranks 1st in “Mobile phone network coverage of the country’ residential areas” rating. This means that a mobile network signal covers the entire territory of the country. As to the main ICT components forming the Networked Readiness Index, Azerbaijan ranks 59th in the number of internet users per 100 people, and 46th in the number of broadband internet subscribers per 100 people among 148 countries. This means that Azerbaijan has maintained its leading position among CIS countries.
At the same time, Azerbaijan ranks the 1st among CIS countries and the 35th in the world in “Companies’ innovation potential” index. The report also says that compared to the countries with high average returns, Azerbaijan has achieved above average results and ranked 6th in “The government’s future approach to the ICT sector” index. Being the leader among CIS countries, Azerbaijan ranks 8th in “The success of the government in promoting the ICT sector” and 11th in “The effectiveness of the government's use of ICT services”.
According to the report, Azerbaijan has surpassed Italy (58 place), Poland (54), Slovakia (59), Montenegro (52), Turkey (51), Georgia (60) and Iran (104). Azerbaijan has also left behind such big countries as China (62), Brazil (69) and Mexico (79).
The World Economic Forum issues ICT report: “Azerbaijan has improved its position by 7 steps, left behind many big countries and taken the 1st place in another rating”
According to “The Global Information Technology Report 2014” issued by the World Economic Forum (WEF), Azerbaijan has improved its position in the Networked Readiness Index by 7 steps and ranked 49th among 148 states, compared to the 56th place a year earlier.Azerbaijan, which has always held leading positions among CIS countries, has left behind many leading countries in this rating.
