Mr. Jiechi hailed the meeting that was held between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the 4th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia in Shanghai. He said that Azerbaijan was a reliable friend of China.
Mr. Jiechi noted the importance of the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.
E. Mammadyarov, in his turn, gave a high assessment to the Azerbaijan-China cooperation, noting the positive results obtained from the activities that had been carried out by the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Trade Cooperation towards expanding economic relations between the two countries.
During the meeting the minister stated that Azerbaijan was building its relations with all countries based on the principles of friendship, mutual respect, as well as respect for territorial integrity, sovereignty and internationally recognized borders.
He said that Azerbaijan and China shared the same position on the execution of the resolutions of the UN Security Council.
Mr. Jiechi said that the bilateral relations between the two countries were built on mutual trust.
He also said the two countries shared same positions on a number of issues, including respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Mr. Jiechi noted the importance of increasing joint efforts for further development of the economic and trade relations between Azerbaijan and China, and intensifying relations between their business communities.
Elmar Mammadyarov spoke about TASIM project in China
