Finalists announced for the UK IT Industry Awards 2011

The finalists in this year's UK IT Industry Awards have been announced. Projects on the shortlist include a system that offers immediate protection from mortgage fraud and another that automates how heritage assets are designated.

"On behalf of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, I'd like to congratulate all of the finalists. The competition to reach this stage of our prestigious Awards is tough," said David Clarke, chief executive at BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.

"Our Awards are central to our mission to recognise the innovation and professionalism of those working in IT, and I'm delighted that every year we have such a variety of high-quality entries."

The Awards judging now moves into its second stage, and the 200-plus finalists will face interview and presentation sessions with expert judges as they compete for the title of winner in their category.

The winners will be announced at a prestigious ceremony on 10 November, at Battersea Park Arena. "I would like to congratulate the finalists.

The UK IT Industry Awards are rigorously judged and to be announced as a finalist is a great achievement," added Abigail Waraker, editor of Computing. The annual Awards, organised and run by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and Computing, are a platform for the entire profession to celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence.
