"Azerbaijan’s ICT sector showed a 15-percent growth even during the crisis. This is evidence to that the sector of the country’s economy is consistent and could withstand the blows of the global financial crisis," Velizade said.
According to the Communications and IT Ministry’s data, the ICT sector growth in Azerbaijan amounted to 15.8 percent, the telecommunications sector - 10.6 percent and IT-sector - twice in the first half of 2011.
Revenues of the ICT sector and postal services in Azerbaijan’s GDP were 1.8 percent over the past six months. The volume of income on the ICT sector and postal services in non-oil sector GDP amounted to 3.8 percent in the first six months.
ICT sector growth to reach about 30 percent in Azerbaijan
The ICT sector growth in Azerbaijan will hit roughly 30 percent by late 2011, Deputy Communications and IT Minister Elmir Velizade said on Tuesday.
