The head of state hailed the importance of the Iranian minister's participation in BakuTel-2016, the 22nd Azerbaijan International Exhibition and Conference on Telecommunications and Information Technologies. The President said the visit also creates a good opportunity for discussing bilateral relations.
Hailing successful development of Azerbaijan-Iran relations in all areas, President Ilham Aliyev praised Mahmoud Vaezi’s role as the co-chair of the Intergovernmental Commission in this regard. The head of state highlighted the global nature of the projects jointly implemented by the two countries. President Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijan and Iran have recently addressed a number of issues relating to bilateral relations, adding that the two countries successfully continue their cooperation. The head of state expressed his hope that a large number of issues which are still on the agenda will also be addressed and that the two countries will be able to achieve their goals.
Mahmoud Vaezi conveyed sincere greetings of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani to President Ilham Aliyev.
Minister Mahmoud Vaezi said: "Mr President Hassan Rouhani asked me to extend his gratitude to you for the condolences to him and the people of Iran over the casualties caused by a railway crash in the country." Hailing mutual confidence between the two countries, Mahmoud Vaezi noted that if we are able to take necessary steps in the best interests of our people today, this has become possible thanks to support from both presidents. The Iranian minister informed the head of state about the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
The head of state thanked for the greetings of President Hassan Rouhani, and asked the minister to communicate his greetings to the Iranian President.
