A representative of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies attended the meeting.
The main purpose of the expert group is to help developing countries benefit from e-commerce opportunities and overcome difficulties associated with the uneven development of the digital economy around of the world.
The "Information Economy 2017" report prepared by the UNCTAD was presented at the expert group meeting, which, along with representatives of various international organizations, was attended by officials from more than 70 countries.
The meeting discussed issues such as the identification of needs for the formation of competitive e-commerce and the digital economy in developing countries, measures for improving technological infrastructures in developing countries, identification of forms of partnership between developed and developing countries for maximizing the use of e-commerce capabilities and eliminating existing difficulties.
The meeting also provided information on the development of the "www.etradeforall.org" international platform established by the UNCTAD in 2016. This platform enables developing countries to use the potential of electronic commerce. Through this initiative, countries can establish contacts with potential partners and obtain the latest information on innovations and e-commerce.
The representative of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Azer Bayramov spoke at the event about Azerbaijan's experience in the development of electronic commerce and the digital economy, as well as the role of e-government, electronic services and open government data in the development of electronic commerce.
It was noted that the new generation identity cards, which will be issued to Azerbaijani citizens from 2018 onwards, the widespread application of mobile government and mobile signatures will give a powerful impetus to the development of electronic commerce in our country.
Having stressed the importance of mutual recognition of electronic signatures for the development of electronic commerce between countries, Azer Bayramov informed the gathering about the work done by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies in this direction.
The participants of the meeting listened with interest to the information about Azerbaijan’s experience in the implementation of electronic signature. And they hailed this experience as very successful.
